On 25 October 2017 the Kazakh state women’s teacher training university hosted the international scientific-practical conference “Conceptual foundations of the linguistic competence formation of multilingual teachers”.
The most active participation in the conference belongs to the representatives of Shakarim State University of Semey City. There were the teachers of the foreign and Russian philology faculty, teachers of other faculties, who hold courses in multilingual groups.
The dean of the foreign and Russian philology faculty G.K. Ismailova presented her online report “The concept of multilingual education development at Shakarim State University of Semey City: results, problems, prospects” at the plenary session. She paid special attention to educational-methodical and informational support of trilingual education, noted the need for greater use of innovative technologies (video, digital curricula, online testing systems, electronic textbooks, international online courses and educational materials) at the present stage of trilingual education development at Kazakhstan universities.
A wide range of problems was discussed at the meeting: the formation of competences in conditions of multilingual education, multilingual educational environment and its role in teacher training, the concept of multilingual education in universities of Kazakhstan and its relationship with academic mobility, implementation of the program of trilingualism in education, methods of teaching foreign languages at universities of Kazakhstan and abroad, the possibility of a common standard of training in the Kazakh, Russian and English languages. And as an example, the experience of China in the transition to multilingual education was considered.
There were also discussed the ways of teaching in the leading institutions of higher education in the state language, innovative methods in teaching foreign language. The collection of articles was released on the basis of materials of the conference. The conference adopted a resolution.
The conference showed not only the urgency of the issues of multilingual education, but also opportunities for cooperation in this area between our university and other universities of Kazakhstan and abroad, in particular, the Kazakh state women’s teacher training university.
