The chair of Russian philology was formed in 2013 on the basis of amalgamation of Russian and foreign philology chairs of Semey State Pedagogical Institute and Semey State University named after Shakarim. The history of the chair begins from September 1937 at pedagogical institute and has glorious traditions. The first teachers were D.I. Larin, V. Ye. Ivanov, V.G. Sovsun, L.I. Perelygin, A.V. Muzychka, and others. Formation of best traditions is connected with the activity of L.I. Perelygin – graduate of Leningrad Pedagogical Institutewho spent 35 years working at the chair. 15 years of them he headed the chair of Russian and foreign literature. As a scientist and specialist in literature L. I. Perelygin published over 40 scientific works, was one of the prominent investigators of the history of Kazakh literature including Abai study. In the 50s the staff of the chair of Russian language and literature was replenished by own graduates and experienced specialists from other institutions of higher education. Among them M.I. Shatalin, A.M.Bakhtyzin, N.M. Voinova, V.I. Travnikov, P.K. Bokhanovskiy, G.M. Nesterova. Good trace in the history of the chair left teachers who graduated this faculty but by fate turned out in other high schools where they had reachedgreat success in scientific and pedagogic career. Among them there are about ten doctors and over 30 candidates of science. Their success and achievements in scientific and pedagogic career are directly connected with the work at the chair, where during many years they had been forming as scientists and directors. Among graduates of the institute that continue to work at the chair are candidates of philological sciences T.M. Demezhanov, I.V. Zykova, K.A. Rublev, candidates of pedagogical sciences T.D. Isabayeva, G.A. Zhumadilova, O.T. Soltanbekova, masters R.M. Imankulova, I.S. Mishchenko, Ye.V. Shumbasova, A.A. Kumanina. During number of years the chair has been cooperating with leading universities of Kazakhstan and Russia: Kazakh Academy of education named after I. Altynsarin, Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, Barnaul State Pedagogical University, Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, Leningrad State University named after A. Herzen. Scientists from these institutions of higher education are frequent guests of the faculty. Great work is carried out by the chair within the realization of republican program of the language triune, popularization and propaganda of the Russian language in the Eastern Kazakhstan region. Teachers take an active part in organization of traditional international festival of Russian art and culture which takes place in Semey, festive events dedicated to the Day of Slavonic writing and culture and other. At present at the united chair of Russian philology there work 15 teachers, among them 6 candidates of science and 4 masters.

The mission of the department is to train competent and competitive teachers of the Russian language and literature, specialists in Russian philology, ready to teach in a multicultural and multi-ethnic educational environment, able to design their further professional development.

The purpose of the department – ensuring the quality of training of Russian language and literature teachers, philologists through credit technology; development of scientific and creative abilities of students; formation of the person with active citizenship, ready to communicate in polylingual and multicultural environment.

The educational process is carried out in accordance with the following regulations: State Educational Standard of RK 3.08.268. – 2006, State Educational Standard of RK 5.04.019 – 2011, Rules of the organization of educational process on credit technology (Order №152 from 20.04. 2011) and model curriculum for each specialty.

The content of lectures, seminars, laboratory lessons meets content of standard programs and is relevant, challenging. While preparing for lessons, teachers base on modern scientific and pedagogical ideas and discoveries in the study of linguistics, literature and methods of teaching these disciplines.

The educational process is carried out in the classrooms with modern equipment, innovative and interactive learning technologies are widely used: business games, multimedia presentations, technology of critical thinking and other.

Teachers use innovative teaching methods such as: educational and creative projects, group presentations, gaming technology, computer and information technologies, the elements of differentiated instruction, method of using associative images, immersion method, the construction of the subject-circuit code of a text, method of the round table that help to activate learning activities, creates an atmosphere of freedom for the creative process.

The department works with Gyeonsang National University (South Korea) and the Altai State Pedagogical Academy (Russia).

Academic Mobility

Within the framework of academic mobility in the 2011-12 year as an exchange student at the department were trained 3 students of Gyeongsang National University, in 2012-2013 – 5 students in 2013-14 year – 3 students

Korean students on the Kazakh land

Graduate of the Semipalatinsk Pedagogical Institute. Krupskaya, Ph.D., professor of Altai State Pedagogical Academy Professor Gabdullina Valentina is coordinator and initiator of philological collaboration between Russia and Kazakhstan.

Up-bringing work at the department is aimed at increasing the level of civic engagement and leadership skills among students; promoting healthy lifestyle; providing social rights of students and staff; developing and supporting young talents; maintaining of internships during the training and employment of young specialists, holding events on patriotic education.
