“Kongress” Intellectual Debate Club

The history of the club

Kongress intellectual debate club was founded byUtebekovKenzhebek on 30th of September 2000 on the basis of Semey state university named after Shakarim.

In 2001-2002 years club won national tournaments, and in 2002 club members Nurbek Kabyzhan and Maksat Ibrayev won the second place on the national tournament.

The winner of the republic tournament on russian league, Daniyar Zhanuzakov was appointed as club’s coordinator in 2002-2003 years.

In 2004-2006 years the coordinator of the club was Bauyrzhan Mustafin, who won the second place on the republic tournament with Askar Artayev.

In 2005 clubman AydarTurumbekov awarded as “the best speaker” on the international tournament.

The winner of the tournament for young debaters, ZhanzhigitOmarkhan was appointed as club’s coordinator in 2006-2007 years.

In 2007-2008 years the coordinator of the club was AydarSabyrbekov, who won the city championship in 2007.

Kuanysh Kassenov was the coordinator in 2008-2010 years.

Bauyrzhan Iskakov was the coordinator in 2010-2012 years.

In 2012 the coordinator of the club was Berik Idyryshev, who was awarded as “the best speaker” on the republic tournament for young debaters.

In 2013 the coordinator of the club was Kairat Iklassov, the winner of therepublictournaments.

In 2013 the coordinator of the club was Nurzhan Toleubekov, the winner of the republic tournaments and who was awarded as “the best speaker” on many tournaments.

In 2014-2015 years the coordinator of the club was Kuasnysh Moldakashev, the winner of the republic tournaments and who was awarded as “the best speaker” on many tournaments.

Yerzhan Kabdylkakov was the coordinator of the club from September 2015 until May 2016.

From September 2016 Nurzhigit Bakirov was appointed as club’s new coordinator.

Goals and tasks of the debate club

  • Active citizenship, responsibility and creativity
  • To form individual and critical thinking
  • To develop public speaking skills of students
  • To intensify and develop the movement of the debate
  • To educate students to respect others view and to tolerance
  • Comprehensive support for students’ ideas

There are about 100 students in “Kongress” intellectual debate club membership.
