THE AMBASSADOR OF CROATIA TO KAZAKHSTAN — AT SHAKARIM UNIVERSITY

As part of his visit to the Abai region, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Croatia to Kazakhstan, Refik Šabanović, visited Shakarim University and became acquainted with the university’s activities.

 

 

The meeting began with a tour of the museum dedicated to the life and works of Shakarim Kudaiberdiev. The event was attended by the First Deputy Akim of the Abai region, Yerbol Sadyr, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation Yerasyl Dulatbay, Vice-Rector for Science Zhanar Kalibekkyzy, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Social Development Askar Kasymov, and Chief of Staff Maksat Karibayev.

 

 

Zhanar Kalibekkyzy spoke about the history of the university, its current development, and the work being done to enhance the quality of education at the international level. She also highlighted the implementation of bilateral projects, experience exchange among researchers, and opportunities for students to participate in research projects.

 

 

During the meaningful meeting, both parties exchanged views on various aspects of cooperation in the field of higher education and science between the two countries.

 

 

“This is my first visit to Semey. I am very glad to have the opportunity to be here. Croatia has several universities, four of which are included in global rankings. We have well-developed sectors in agriculture, medicine, and IT. Over the past six years, significant efforts have been made to provide scholarships for Kazakhstani students. As an ambassador, I would like to develop cooperation between our educational institutions,” said Refik Šabanović, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties between Croatia and Kazakhstan in the field of education and science.

 

 

He also stressed the importance of student and faculty exchange and expressed his intention to establish close cooperation with Shakarim University in the future.

 

 

Thus, the first step has been taken towards establishing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.
