Goal 8. Decent work and economic growth
The employment rate is one of the indicators of HEIs efficiency. Professional orientation and competitiveness of graduates in the labor market is ensured through a number of consecutive activities, for example, the following are the activities that are carried out during the academic year:
- Round Table “New Criteria for Evaluating the Employment of University Graduates. Searching for partnership for success”;
- trainings on soft skils development, career planning, self-development and time management;
- organization of dual training for the purpose of subsequent employment of students;
- Guest lectures (speakers are successful people (https://shakarim.edu.kz/ru/news/tabysty-tulghalard...), talented youth, business founders, graduates of the Bolashak program, etc.);
- presentation of companies, firms, organizations of the region on the basis of the university “We choose, we are chosen”;
- assisting students in compiling a resume and further posting it on the university website (https://shakarim.edu.kz/en/pages/index?pathway=vyp...);
- Meeting of graduates with representatives of MIO and the lawyer of the university on compulsory 3-year work experience regarding state educational grant holders, quota for citizens from among rural youth on specialization, determining the socio-economic development of the village, quota for student training under the program «Mangilyk el zhastary – industryaga».
The main purpose of all meetings and events held is interest in solving the problem of employment, readiness for cooperation and support for young professionals.
The most important in promoting employment of graduates is the annual Job Fair. More than 150 representatives of enterprises, organizations and institutions of East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar regions, Abay region take part in the Job Fair. University graduates are offered various positions from starting positions to management positions (https://shakarim.edu.kz/ru/news/bos-oryndar-zharme...).
In Shakarim University the trade union of employees is actively functioning, salaries are regularly increased. Annual competitions for vacant positions of academic staff and employees are held annually.
