Shakarim University was the first in the region to launch a series of events dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayev.
The "Abaistream" festival was initiated to expand young people’s intellectual horizons through Abai’s literary heritage, promote his ideas in morality, science, art, and culture, and analyze his works from the perspective of the 21st century.
The "Abaistream" festival, inspired by Abai’s "Perfect Human" doctrine, featured a range of events dedicated to poetry, art, social, and spiritual values.
Opening the festival, university rector Duman Orynbekov stated: "Moral principles must always come before scientific and technological advancements in human progress. The profound thoughts of the great Abai should serve as a foundation for educating a conscientious and high-principled younger generation."
During the science café discussion titled "The Mainstream of 21st Century Education – Abai's 'Perfect Human' Concept," and next scholars and experts share their views: Doctor of Philology, Professor Bauyrzhan Erdenbekov, Literary critic, journalist Bagashar Tursunbaiuly, Scholar from South Kazakhstan State University named after M. Auezov Azimkhan Isabek, Lecturer from E. Buketov Karaganda University Aida Kairbekova, Head of the "Alash Aristarsy Mukhtar Auezov" Museum Kuat Kiikbai. They discussed contemporary issues in Abai studies and suggested initiatives for celebrating his anniversary.
The festival program included discussion platform: "Abai’s 'Perfect Human' Doctrine: Social Intelligence", training session: "Abai’s Code of Humanity", master class: "Abai and Art", modern analysis of Abai’s "Words of Wisdom, and togyzkumalak tournament, a traditional game loved by Abai.
At the Republican Competition "Abai and the Art of Song," talented performers showcased their interpretations of Abai’s musical legacy. The festival also featured business games, volunteer meetups, and a poetry plein air session.
